During my club going days my dad always tells me not to accept drinks from anyone, especially if they were brought to me in a glass because some one could spike my drink with one of those date rape drugs like Rohypnol, GHB and Katemine. Although there was some truth in this, the most popular drug of choice used to facilitate a rape is actually alcohol. Close to 85% of sexual assaults involve alcohol use by the victim, perpetrator, or both.
Also growing up we were taught to not walk in dark alleys when actually most rapes occur in an environment the victim considers safe and 80% (according to F.B.I records) of rapes are committed by someone the survivor knows.
So I guess the key is to know your own limits when it comes to alcohol intake, and it doesn't hurt to be careful about accepting drinks from strangers (or sometimes even friends) and also if you go on the dance floor and leave your drink, when you come back to the table, I know it sucks but order a fresh one. Don't share drinks, don't drink anything that taste or smells strange, sometimes GHB tastes salty.
What do the drugs look like?
- GHB has a few forms: a liquid with no odor or color, white powder, and pill.
- Rohypnol is a pill and dissolves in liquids. New pills turn blue when added to liquids. However, the old pills, with no color, are still available.
- Ketamine is a white powder.

Feelin bad coz i couldn't take a case
Today I got a call while bringing the kids back to the house. I was suppose to be coaching them for their upcoming science competiton. Sigh, whenever I hear her say, we have a case and there is no one to respond I feel like I have to be the one. Unfortunately I had to say "No, Ican't" today also because my car is being repaired.

They say: "Don't take your work home"
How can I not take my work home? I mean it's not like I get to go into the office, punch some numbers or answer the phone and go home. I go in and am immediately face to face with someone in crisis, sitting there listening to terrifying accounts, sometimes watching tears streaming from their faces, looking into a parent's eyes that is filled with hurt and confusion, trying to comprehend how this horrible event can happen to their precious child. Everyone involved wishing that this was just a bad dream and that when we go home and wake up the next morning, none of it had really happened. I don't know how as yet but I know I have to try........
For the past few days I've just been experiencing terrible stomach pains I knew then I had internalized what I saw, often times for me emotional/psychological stress will manifest itself as physical pain.

The Beginning......

"In Greek Mythology, Persephone is the goddess of spring. According to her story, she was abducted, raped and taken to the underworld by Hades, the lord of the underworld. When her mother, Demeter, found out what had happened to Persephone, she convinced Zeus to force Hades to release her. Before Persephone could leave, Hades made her eat a pomegranate, which meant that she would have to return to the underworld for one-third of the year. According to the legend, the time Persephone spends in the underworld is the time in which there is winter on the earth. Because Persephone made it out of the underworld, she can be called the first survivor".
Survivors can take comfort from the knowledge that although winter is hard, there is always spring around the corner.
